School Violence Prevention Program

The Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing School Violence Act of 2018 (STOP School Violence Act of 2018) gave the COPS Office authority to provide awards directly to States, units of local government, or Indian tribes to improve security at schools and on school grounds in the jurisdiction of the grantee through evidence-based school safety programs and technology.

The Students, Teachers, and Officers Preventing School Violence Act of 2018 (STOP School Violence Act of 2018) gave the COPS Office authority to provide awards directly to States, units of local government, or Indian tribes to improve security at schools and on school grounds in the jurisdiction of the grantee through evidence-based school safety programs and technology.


The FY 23 School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP) will close on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at 4:59 PM ET.*

*IMPORTANT: Applications will be submitted in a two-step process, each with its own deadline.

STEP 1: Submit an SF-424 and an SF-LLL in Grants.gov.
GRANTS.GOV APPLICATION DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, MAY 10, 2023, at 4:59 PM ET.

STEP 2: Submit the full application including attachments in JustGrants.
JUSTGRANTS APPLICATION DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY, MAY 17, 2023, at 4:59 PM ET.

Up to $73 million in funding is available for FY23 SVPP.

Each award is three years (36 months) in duration for a maximum federal share of $500,000 per award. There is a local cash match (cost share) requirement of at least 25 percent.
