Lenovo and NetApp: Transforming a Data Driven World
Lenovo and NetApp Partner Up
On September 13, at Lenovo’s Transform 2.0 conference, Lenovo and NetApp announced their global and multi-faceted partnership aimed to modernize customer IT and accelerate a new age of digital transformation. Both companies are uniquely positioned to transform IT architectures with a simple and innovative approach.
Next-Gen Data Management Solutions
Lenovo and NetApp are in the midst of co-developing the largest range of new, Lenovo-branded storage products that will combine NetApp’s leading data management solutions with Lenovo’s ThinkSystem infrastructure.
These newly developed all-flash and hybrid flash products will put them in a much stronger position head-to-head with Dell, EMC, and HPE on storage systems. The first solutions from this partnership – Lenovo ThinkSystem DE and DM Series – will be globally available for purchase immediately.
ThinkSystem DM Series
The newly released ThinkSystem DM series are hybrid storage arrays that provide a unified solution to manage all block-and-file workloads on one array. Customers can scale out from a base of two nodes to a 12-array cluster containing up to 28PB SAN or 57PB NAS capacity. ThinkSystem DM simplifies the task of managing growth and complexity by delivering high performance, supporting a broad range of unified workloads and seamless scaling of performance and capacity.
ThinkSystem DE Series
The ThinkSystem DE series consists of the ThinkSystem DE6000F and DE4000F all-flash arrays with features such as redundant components with automated failover and advanced monitoring and diagnostics with proactive repair. The compact 2U ThinkSystem DE6000F is a midrange storage array with up to 1 million IOPS and 21GBps of read bandwidth. The entry-level DE4000F all-flash storage system has up to 300,000 IOPS and 10BGps of read bandwidth.
What the Future Holds?
Lenovo’s unmatched supply chain and service network combined with NetApp’s distinct cloud ecosystem places them at a unique advantage in the industry. As the demand for flash continues to rise, this partnership comes together with tremendous momentum.
We are sure to see more collaborative solutions from this customer-centric and innovative partnership in the near future.
